Software Dev Engineer II

Job Description:
Our team seeks a Python Software Engineer who can contribute to one or many ongoing development efforts including radar data analysis, data logging systems, lab software, experiment automation, embedded device clients, radar system SW simulation, and integrated vehicle testing.

This candidate is energized and excited to develop Python in a Linux environment.
The candidate should be fluent with all aspects of modern software development.
They will be as comfortable writing code, as in the lab working on experimental setups and test instrumentation.
The ideal candidate will be able to work from a lightly specified design, will independently create software solutions, and will seek opportunities to improve both design and documentation.

Required Experience

All of these proficiencies are required for this role:
* Excellent Python development experience
* Strong experience in developing on and for Linux platforms
* Proficiency with standard SW engineering tools and best practices, eg git, pull/change requests, issue management tools such as Jira, package and dependency management

Preferred Experience

At least one of these proficiencies are required for this role:
* Familiarity with scientific computing concepts and libraries, eg. numpy, scipy, matplotlib, pandas
* Experience migrating applications to cloud environments, Docker development, cloud architecture considerations
* Developing tests for deeply embedded systems interfacing over Ethernet and CAN
* Familiarity interfacing with and debugging embedded devices, like radar modules, lab equipment, or prototype PCBAs and evaluation modules.
* Familiarity with network/socket programming, async programming concepts, and PUB/SUB vs REQ/RSP topologies.
* Radar-related concepts like signal processing and LTI systems theory, waveform design, ADCs and digital sampling theory, radar range equation, electro magnetics, mmWave radar, FMCW radar.
